The Association of Historical Settlements in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia (SHS ČMS) is helping to create conditions and instruments for the preservation and permanently sustainable use of the cultural heritage.

The Association was established at the initiative of east Bohemian towns in November 1990.
On 1 July 2009, the Association had 211 members, including 203 full members (villages, towns and their parts), and 8 associate members.
The competition Historical Town of the Year 2008 has ended!
The Prize for the Best Preparation and Implementation of the Regeneration Programme of Urban Monument Reserves and Urban Monument Zones in 2008 and the title Historical Town of the year 2008 were awarded to the Šternberk.
The winner was announced in a ceremony in the Spanish Hall of Prague castle on 16 April 2009 at a meeting on the occasion of the International Monuments and Sites Day.

The Convention, the supreme body of the Association, took place in Brno on 12 and 13 April 2007, and adopted principal documents for the activities of the Association in the years 2007-2010.

As every year, the Association of Historical Settlements in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia has issued a statement on the preparation of the 2009 State Budget. The occasion was the National Opening of the European Heritage Days 2008.
Text of Statement
The 2nd edition opened in the CR! This competition is organized within the European Heritage Days/EHD. Our Association was asked by the Council of Europe (the main organizer) to arrange the competition in the Czech Republic under its aegis.
The winner was announced in a ceremony in the Spanish Hall of Prague castle on 16April at a meeting on the occasion of the International Monuments and Sites Day. The names of the winners, their photos and the photos of all participants are in the article.

• European Heritage Days - EHD in 2009 will be held 12 - 20 September.
• The National Opening will take place in the town of Šternberk on 12 September.
• The National Theme for the year 2009 is: "Monuments Measured by Time ".
On 9 and 10 October 2008, our Association and the town of Tábor organised the conference "Architects, Investors and Conservationists in Mutual Dialogue".

EHD 2008 took place from 13 to 21 September 2008. The theme was “Monuments in the Landscape and Landscape as a Monument”. The National Opening Ceremony of EHD was held in České Budějovice. More at www.ehd.cz .

A seminar, Urbanus 2008, took place in Telč on 18 - 19 November. More information can be found at http://www.urbanus.cz , where lectures from the seminar will be available.
The Association of Historical Settlements in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia arranged a study trip to Austria from 25 May 2008 (Sunday) to 31 May 2008 (Saturday). A study trip to Austria in 2009 is being planned.
